India’s sports industry is no longer just about stadiums, scoreboards, and Sunday cricket matches. It’s a $14 billion powerhouse—and it’s only the beginning. As someone working deeply in grassroots sports and women’s cricket through Big Bash Boots Foundation, I’m witnessing a historic shift. We’re not just playing games anymore—we’re building futures.

From ₹16,493 Cr to ₹20,686 Cr: The Numbers Speak for Themselves

In just two years (FY 2022–24), India’s sports industry has jumped from ₹16,493 crore to ₹20,686 crore. That’s nearly a 25% increase in total revenue. The growth is being driven by a dynamic mix of ecosystems:
  • $5 billion – Cricket (BCCI, IPL, domestic leagues, franchises)
  • $4.5 billion – Sports manufacturing (equipment, gear, apparel)
  • $1.5 billion – Fantasy sports platforms
  • $1.5 billion – Government initiatives (Khelo India, TOPS, infrastructure)
  • $1.5 billion – Other services (education, coaching, medicine, sports tech, travel)

This growth isn’t just on paper—it’s creating opportunities across urban and rural India.

Sports as a Career, Not Just a Passion

What excites me most is the career potential. Sports today is a full-fledged ecosystem. Whether you’re a coach, physiotherapist, content creator, sports analyst, nutritionist, or gear manufacturer—there’s space for you here.

Through Big Bash Boots Foundation and our initiative Divya Kanya Rising, we’re creating platforms for thousands of young girls across Gujarat and beyond to pursue sports not just as a hobby, but as a career path.

We are also seeing more inclusion, with government support and private initiatives working together to uplift underrepresented talent—especially from small towns and slums. And that’s the real win.

The Future: 35–45X Growth & Billions Impacted

Looking at the momentum, India’s sports industry is expected to grow 35 to 45 times in the coming years.

And this isn’t just about money.

This is about creating:
  • Employment at every level
  • Entrepreneurship across cities and villages
  • Empowerment for women, youth, and differently-abled athletes
  • Excellence that can compete globally

We’re on the edge of a new sports revolution—and it’s not just urban. It’s pan-India, inclusive, digital, and deeply purpose-driven.

A Personal Note

As the founder of Big Bash Boots Foundation & League, I’m proud to be part of this movement. Our mission has always been clear—to create impact through sports, build character through play, and unlock dreams through opportunity.

India’s sports journey is just beginning. Let’s believe in it. Let’s build it.
