A proud part of the Pithawalla Family
There are some names that don’t just belong to a family—they belong to history. They don’t just make an impact—they create movements. For me and my family, that name is Legendary Shree Chotu Bhai Pithawalla.
Belonging to his family is not just a matter of pride; it’s a deep sense of responsibility. A man far ahead of his time, Shree Chotu Bhai Pithawalla was a visionary who walked the path of social service long before it became a trend. He acted when support was scarce, when visibility was nonexistent, and when progress required not just courage—but conviction.
The Torchbearer of Silent Change
Shree Chotu Bhai Pithawalla wasn’t one for the limelight. His work spoke louder than his words. His journey was marked by integrity, simplicity, and a powerful drive to uplift the society around him.
Some of his most admirable contributions include:
Education for All:
He strongly believed that education is the foundation of a strong society. He supported and funded schools, ensured accessibility to education for underprivileged children, and encouraged families to educate their daughters at a time when it wasn’t widely accepted.
Health and Well-being Initiatives:
He was instrumental in supporting community health programs, contributing to the establishment of free medical camps and facilitating treatments for those who could not afford them.
Empowering Communities:
Whether it was building public amenities, supporting local artisans, or providing vocational guidance to youth, he always believed in empowering people at the grassroots level.
Respect for Elders, Hope for Youth:
He created spaces for the elderly and consistently supported programs for youth mentorship and sports engagement, laying the path for what we today carry forward through Divya Kanya Rising and Big Bash Sports Foundation.
Values Before Visibility:
He quietly funded charitable causes, helped individuals in personal crises, and always extended his support without expecting recognition or returns.
My Personal Inspiration
Growing up in his presence—or even under the shadow of his wisdom—has shaped our thinking, our approach, and our ambition. Today, as the Founder of Big Bash Sports Foundation and Big Bash Sports League, I carry with me his spirit of giving, inclusivity, and vision.
His legacy motivates us to dream beyond limitations, to act with purpose, and to lead with humility. When we began Divya Kanya Rising, a talent platform for young girls in sports, it was this same belief—that even in unseen places, greatness can rise—that led our way. A belief seeded by him.
Legacy Is Not What You Leave Behind… It’s What You Begin
Legendary Shree Chotu Bhai Pithawalla may no longer be with us physically, but his spirit lives on—in every life he touched, in every act of service he inspired, and in the hearts of all who were fortunate to witness his silent greatness.
As his granddaughter and a proud bearer of the Pithawalla family legacy, I feel deeply called to continue the mission in my own way—through cricket, through girl child empowerment, through creating platforms where the invisible become invincible.
I believe that every child who gets a chance to shine through our foundation carries a piece of his dream forward. And that’s what legacy is truly about—not the monuments we build, but the people we uplift.
Thank you, Dada, for showing us the way. We’re walking it, one empowered life at a time.
With love and pride,
Shitaal Pithawalla
